Stuart Lopata, vice president of industry sales for Maverick Aviation Group, recently announced that he will retire this summer. His retirement comes after serving 51 years in the Travel and Tourism Industry.

The HAI Operator Safety Award is presented to companies that meet strict safety guidelines and for safe operations in the previous year. Maverick Helicopters helps deliver supplies to residents of Navajo Nation during severe snow storm.

GRAND CANYON, ARIZONA – The severe snow storms of the past weeks have hit Northern Arizona so hard that travel within the rural areas of the Cameron Chapter of the Navajo Nation have been near impossible. Because of these incredible circumstances, Maverick Helicopters has delivered much-needed food and supplies to residents not able to maneuver through the snow-packed roads.

The company, which operates flights at Grand Canyon South Rim, flew food, supplies and fire wood to homes around Cameron, Arizona during the week of January 25th. Managers say approximately 100 people benefited from these important flights. When the snow pack turns to mud and roads become impossible to maneuver once again, the company expects to help with additional drops as necessary.

Maverick Helicopters EC130 Fleet Surpasses 100,000 Flight Hours.

Grand Prairie, TX-- Maverick Helicopters, a Nevada-based charter and aerial tour operator and the largest EC130 operator in the world, has surpassed the 100,000 flight hour milestone with their fleet of American Eurocopter EC130s.

Lopata’s combination of hospitality industry expertise and travel background is a great fit for Maverick Aviation Group. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, his first job was with Lib/Go, one of the largest privately held travel companies in the U.S. In fact, it was while escorting a group of travelers for Lib/Go in 1960 that he visited and fell in love with Las Vegas—vowing to come back permanently. Over the years, Lopata served in a variety of capacities for other travel-related companies, including the El San Juan and El Conquistador resorts in Puerto Rico and Travelpower (now The Mark Travel Corporation) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1976, Lopata was finally able to move to Las Vegas, where he became the vice president at Major Riddle Enterprises, an entertainment company that owned the Dunes (now Bellagio), Holiday International (now Main Street Station), Silver City, Silver Nugget and Silverbird (soon to be the Fontainebleau Las Vegas) properties.

Most recently, Lopata returned to New York, where he worked for Travelsavers, an international travel marketing organization with more than 3,000 independent travel agencies in 14 countries around the world. But he soon had enough of the cold weather and came back to Las Vegas last Christmas.
